Check out these Fun Ways to Use Letterboards in Your Homeschool Room!
I am absolutely obsessed with letterboards and have them all over the house-coffee bar, bedrooms, kitchen, and even the schoolroom. Nowhere is safe from my love of letterboards because I think they are fun and can add a special touch to your living areas. Here is how I use them in our homeschool room….
Fun Ways to Use Letterboards in Your Homeschool
Announce special events
Let the kids know in a fun way that there is a field trip tomorrow, a dissection today, or no school next week! Here is our very first letterboard that I put up on our first week of the new homeschool year.
Add an inspiring quote to encourage or choose one from a historical figure you are studying. After having this one up for a week the kids know it by heart and who said it without any additional teaching on it!
Use your letterboard to add some holiday fun by using one to spell out- Merry Christmas, Happy 4th of July, etc… Announce birthdays even if everyone in the house already knows its just one more way to celebrate your child on their special day!
Add your children’s spelling and vocabulary words for a new fresh way for them to study from or better yet let them take a spelling test using the letterboard.
Word of the Day
Add a word of the day for your child to learn, a fun way to get in some dictionary skills, then have them move on to the thesaurus! Or perhaps you can scramble the word and have your child unscramble it before it.
Post your homeschools inspirational verse, or change it out daily or weekly to fit whatever character study you are working on.
Just be funny
Sometimes I just like to put up a joke and have the kids guess or ask for the answer.
Highlight your current studies
We are working our way through a United States study and I use one to announce the current state, the capital, and the state’s nickname along with some of our books for the week.
Be sure to let the kids get in on some of the fun and let them choose a quote or something to put up in the room.

This is a great beginner board and was my first one, we still use it!
This one has a lot more room for words and accessories
Add some fun colored letters
There are even fun words to highlight days of the week, seasons, holidays, and more
Last but not least adding fun shapes can really make your boards pop!
